Yea, Tho' I Walk

Sera's Christian Growth - Book Three

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – Reverend Marcia J. Bowman says that Yea, Tho’ I Walk is the final installation of a three-part parable where the life of heroine, Sera, is used to provide a realistic application of Scripture, prayer and faith. The storyline of Yea, Tho’ I Walk is based upon the 23rd Psalm, beginning with a study of the life of King David during the time when this song of hope was written. According to Rev. Bowman, after growth from being an immature and unhealthy Christian in The Last Miserable Day, and experiencing growth as a disciple in Sera’s Stand, Sera is now a commissioning disciple where she exhibits, teaches and reaffirms her spiritual belief in Jesus Christ as God in Yea, Tho’ I Walk. In this last book Sera is walking in full discipleship although she still faces challenges to her faith. Yea, Tho' I Walk: Sera's Christian Growth - Book Three (published by AuthorHouse) illustrates how to apply discipleship and stewardship through volunteering, by nurturing others and through the willingness to continually learn and grow. Two short segments provide Time Management applications and a "Book of Lists" in relation to Christianity which are adapted from the author’s workshops and mentorships.

Rev. Bowman purposes to provide happy endings for her books and to change social paradigms by consistently presenting the African American Christian culture that she knows compared with common stereotypes. Her characters have strong work ethics, healthy family values and positive self images. “Clearly, my characters are flawed; however, the intent is to show more realistic Christian struggles. In fact, instead of experiencing full transformation after an emotional song, it takes three books for my character to make the serious change that is required for discipleship. Being saved and living saved are two different things,” says Rev. Bowman.  Yea, Tho' I Walk will appeal to Christians seeking positive adult role models and for youth as examples,” writes Bowman. “It presents several paradigm challenges regarding religious concepts, interpersonal growth and perceptions of the Christian in the community.” Ideal for those seeking spiritual confirmation, lifestyle instruction regarding stewardship and ways to support people regardless of their spiritual beliefs and commitment, Yea, Tho' I Walk inspires others by the example of one woman who chose to put her faith in God.

To follow the artistic trend used in The Last Miserable Day and Sera’s Stand (also published by AuthorHouse), Rev. Bowman commissioned the artwork from her cousin, Lorna Conley. The art work of David C. Ruffin, Jr., Rev. Bowman’s late father, appeared on the covers of the author’s first two books.

Next to her calling as a minister, Rev. Marcia J. Bowman considers her role as a mother and grandmother her most gratifying. An ordained minister, Reverend Bowman, received her doctorate in divinity through the Universal Life Church. She was licensed to minister in 2005 at First Bryan Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga. Rev. Bowman has served as a Sunday school teacher, collegiate ministry director, outreach reading center director, scholarship committee director and grief ministry director.
